THE SHOW

Weed lube, throuple therapy, & one life-altering text message. With an open mind, heart, and vagina, KEEPING MY KIDNEYS challenges the romantic comedy narrative and the roles we play in it. Writer and performer Mindy Raf demystifies love, loss, and sexuality and engages her vulnerable, razor-sharp storytelling style to face the complexities of modern love and leave us asking, “could I ever do that?”

KEEPING MY KIDNEYS  had a great debut in NYC this past year with SOLD OUT shows at the PIT Loft and stellar reviews and features by: GO Magazine, Time Out New York, Theatre Is Easy, Effort Lez, Cynical Magazine, and Hy Reviews. Now we want to share this story with international audiences, and we need your help.

WHY?

This show is deeply personal and so important to me. The Edinburgh Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and a wonderful opportunity to create an international conversation through comedy and storytelling about how we're taught to define love and ourselves through our relationships.

How will an international  audience respond to: stories about weed lube and identity, learning about new relationship structures, and hearing my vagina sing ? I have absolutely no idea.

But I'm really excited to find out in August.

WHAT DO WE NEED?

Our initial fundraising goal is $8000. We do not stand to make a profit on the Edinburgh run, only cover costs.  Anything raised beyond our initial goal will go toward paying people for their time, energy, and talents during the life of the show.

Here’s a breakdown of how the money raised will be utilized:

Transportation & Housing
Will need to purchase flight from NYC to Edinburgh and rent a room to stay for the full month of August. The population more than doubles during the fringe and housing is at peak prices.
Publicity & Marketing
Our goal is to share this story with as many people as possible. As there are over 3,000 shows across 300+ venues, publicity and marketing (outreach, poster / flyer design and printing) is key.
Venue & Festival Fees
There are many fees that add up when taking a show to a festival of this scale such as registration, festival program, and insurance.
Production Team
I’m lucky to be working with Edinburgh-based live arts production company, Civil Disobedience as well as director Tara Elliott who was instrumental in developing the show and during its residency at the PIT Loft. In the demanding, exciting world of the Fringe, it's important to have support on the ground as well as work with a director in preparation to acclimate the show to a new space.
